Plan your camper trip through Denmark – find your ideal camper in minutes

Road Genius compares campervan rentals from many brands across Denmark. Pick-up locations like Copenhagen, Aarhus and Aalborg place you close to bridges and ferries that connect the islands and Jutland peninsula. Denmark's good roads and short distances allow you to cross the country in half a day, yet weather and bridge tolls still affect the best travel plans.

Driving Tips

  • Speed limits: 130 km/h (80 mph) on motorways, 80 km/h (50 mph) on rural roads, 50 km/h (31 mph) in towns unless signs show otherwise.
  • Headlights must stay on at all times, even in daylight.
  • Blood-alcohol limit is 0.5 ‰ and police conduct random roadside checks.
  • Low-Emission Zones in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg require vehicles to meet Euro 5 standards (diesel) or register online; fines are high.
  • The Storebælt (Great Belt) and Øresund bridges charge tolls. Pay by credit card at the toll booth or with a BroBizz electronic transponder.
  • Roundabouts are common; vehicles already inside have right of way.
  • Many village streets are narrow; use pull-outs to let oncoming traffic pass.
  • You must carry a reflective vest and warning triangle; they are required by law.

Local Tips

  • Strong coastal winds in spring and autumn can damage awnings; retract them at night.
  • Ticks are active May–September in forests and meadows; use insect repellent and check skin daily.
  • Denmark uses the Danish krone (DKK) but cards and contactless payments work almost everywhere.
  • Propane exchange uses the green Danish 10 kg or blue Nordic 11 kg bottles; adapters for other systems are rare.
  • Island ferries to Bornholm, Fanø, Læsø and Samsø require advance booking; provide exact vehicle length including bike racks.
