Plan your camper trip from Helsinki – find your ideal camper in minutes

Road Genius compares campervan rentals from many Finnish suppliers, letting you view prices, layouts and vehicle specifications side by side. Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is the main pickup location, with Turku and Tampere as other useful gateways. Finland's long summer daylight can extend driving days, while winter brings short daylight and snow tires.

  • Winter tires are mandatory from 1 December to 28 February or when roads are snowy.
  • Helsinki has no road tolls, but paid street parking zones operate roughly 09:00–21:00; use the EasyPark or ParkMan app.
  • Blood-alcohol limit is 0.05%; checks are frequent near ferry terminals and nightlife areas.

Local Tips

  • Black ice forms quickly when the temperature drops near 0°C (32°F); reduce speed on bridges and shaded roads.
  • Watch for elk and deer, especially at dawn and dusk; yellow warning signs show high-risk areas.
  • Summer brings midges; carry insect screens or park near open shoreline breezes.
  • Dial 112 for police, fire or ambulance; English is widely spoken by operators.
  • Refill LPG early—bottled gas is common, but only a few stations in the capital area have auto-fill LPG pumps.
  • Fire bans are common in dry periods; always check the Ilmatieteenlaitos (Finnish Meteorological Institute) website before using a portable grill.
