Most people pick up vans at Amsterdam Schiphol, Rotterdam or Eindhoven airports and then explore the North Sea coast, the Veluwe forests and the Frisian lakes. Weather changes quickly over the flat land, so plan both outdoor and indoor stops.

Motorway speed limits are 100 km/h (62 mph) during the day and 120–130 km/h (75–81 mph) after 19:00. Check roadside signs for exact limits.
In towns the limit is 50 km/h (31 mph) and 30 km/h (19 mph) in many residential areas.
Many cities have a milieuzone (low-emission zone). Older diesel vans below Euro 3 standard receive automatic fines.
The Western Scheldt Tunnel is the only toll road. Pay by card or cash at the booth.
Parking a campervan on the street overnight is often limited to 21:00–09:00 and forbidden in historic centers. Use a signed "camperplaats" (campervan parking area).
Fuel stations sell diesel and gasoline. LPG (shown as 'Autogas') is common but not available everywhere.

Coastal storms can bring wind gusts over 80 km/h (50 mph) in autumn. Pull in awnings during storms.
Some canal bridges in historic towns are lower than 3.0 m (9 ft 10 in). Follow detours marked for high vehicles.

In winter road salt keeps main roads clear but side roads may freeze. Carry -20 °C windshield wash fluid.
