Driving in and around Warsaw

  • The city speed limit is 50 km/h (31 mph) between 05:00–23:00 and 60 km/h (37 mph) overnight.
  • A2 and S8 expressways use a ticket toll system for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes; take a ticket when you enter and pay with cash or card when you exit.
  • Campervans over 3.5 tonnes must register for the e-Toll electronic system before entering toll roads.
  • The paid parking zone operates Monday–Friday 08:00–20:00; use the street parking meters or mobile app.
  • Warsaw plans a Low Emission Zone; check the rules before arrival if your RV is older.
  • Winter driving can mean black ice; fit M+S or 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake tires and carry de-icer for locks.

Fuel, Water, Waste

  • 24-hour Orlen, Lotos and Circle K fuel stations on the A2, S7 and S8 supply diesel, LPG and often have a drinking water tap.
  • A free motorhome service area under Gdański Bridge (52.258 N, 21.015 E) offers fresh water plus gray and black water disposal.
  • Paid service stations at Camping Wok, Majawa and Kaputy sell tokens even to non-guests.

Practical Tips

  • Night temperatures can fall below –10 °C (14 °F) in January; drain exterior tanks or keep the heater on.
  • Wild camping is illegal outside marked areas; fines start at 100 PLN.
  • The national emergency number is 112; operators speak English.
  • Polish law requires a reflective vest and warning triangle in the vehicle.
  • Most shops close by 21:00 on Sunday because of trading rules; plan food shopping in advance.
