Driving Notes

  • Highway speed limit is 120 km/h (75 mph), main rural roads 90 km/h (55 mph) and towns 50 km/h (31 mph). Speed cameras issue fines automatically.
  • The AP-7 section near Valencia is now toll-free. Any remaining toll roads use "peaje" booths where you pay by card or cash.
  • RVs over 3.5 tonnes must stay in the right lane and drive below 90 km/h (56 mph) on two-lane roads.
  • The historic center has narrow streets under 2.2 m (7 ft 3 in) wide. Park outside the center and take Metro or bus.
  • Blue curb lines mark the "zona azul" paid parking area, usually 09:00–20:00 Monday–Saturday. Large vehicles may get tickets after 2 hours.
  • You must carry two warning triangles, reflective vests for all passengers and the vehicle rental documents. Police can check these at any time.
  • Gas is called "gasolina", diesel is "gasóleo A". No self-service LPG inside the city. The nearest AutoGas pump is by the A-7 highway in Paterna.

Refueling Spots

  • Repsol service area at A-7 km 337 offers diesel, gas, AutoGas and a free waste dumping station.
  • Cepsa on V-30 exit 10 has fresh water tap and paid gray water and black water station.
  • Valencia Camper Park lets non-guests refill water and empty waste tanks for a small fee. Call ahead to confirm.

Practical Tips

  • July and August have UV index 9+. Carry shade and 3 liters of water per person.
  • October can have "gota fría" heavy rain. Avoid dry riverbeds for overnight parking.
  • Mosquitoes appear at sunset around Albufera rice fields. Insect screens help.
  • Wild camping on beaches or in natural parks is illegal and fined. Use marked camping areas only.
  • Emergency number 112 connects to police, fire and medical services in English if requested.
  • The nearest 24-hour hospital with emergency services is Hospital La Fe, 10 km south of the city center.
