On average, car rentals in Disney World cost around $48 per day, with the lowest-priced rentals starting at $3 per day.
Shop multiple pickup spots: Compare MCO airport, Lake Buena Vista / Hotel Plaza and US-192 desks against the Disney Car Care Center. Off-property counters a 5-10 min Lyft away often beat on-site rates even after the ride cost.
Rent "split-stay" style: Use free Disney buses, monorails and boats on full park days, then grab a car only for off-property runs (outlets, Universal, beaches). Fewer rental days = big savings on both rate and $25/day park parking.
Peak = plan, off-peak = pounce: For Spring Break, summer and late-December lock in a cancelable booking early, then keep checking and rebooking if prices dip. September or post-holiday January usually deliver the lowest walk-up deals.
Watch pickup/return hours: Car Care Center and many hotel desks close around 6 PM. Avoid an after-hours airport return fee by matching your rental times to their schedule.

Do I need a car if I'm staying at a Disney resort?
Not really. Disney gives you lots of ways to get around like buses, the monorail, boats and the Disney Skyliner. These travel between the parks and resorts. But having your own car can make it easier to visit places outside of Disney or eat at different restaurants.
Where can I rent a car if I'm already staying at Disney without one?
You can rent a car from the Disney Car Care Center. Alamo and National run it, and they offer a free shuttle from the Disney resorts. Some Disney resorts and nearby hotels like the Walt Disney World Dolphin also have their own rental desks. You can also find car rental places on Hotel Plaza Boulevard and along US-192 in Kissimmee.
Is parking difficult at Disney theme parks?
No. The Disney parks have huge parking lots, and trams can take you to the park entrances. If you get there early, about 45 to 60 minutes before the park opens, you can get a spot closer to the front. Standard parking costs $30 a day, and your pass works at all the parks for that day.
How does Disney resort parking work?
If you're a guest at a Disney resort, you get free self-parking. Just show your resort ID or MagicBand at the parking booth when you get back to your resort.
What's the best route from Disney to the beaches?
To get to the Atlantic beaches, take I-4 East to SR-528 East (this is a toll road) to reach Cocoa Beach. The trip is about 70 miles (113 km) and takes 80 to 90 minutes. To get to the Gulf beaches, take I-4 West to Tampa and keep going to Clearwater Beach. This trip is about 90 miles (145 km) and takes 100 to 120 minutes.
Can I use Disney transportation some days and my rental car on others?
Yes. A lot of visitors use Disney's transportation on days they go to the theme parks. They save their rental car for trips outside of Disney or for days they want to visit several different places.
