Driving Notes
- Many rural roads are narrow; keep the camper width within 2.3 m / 7 ft 7 in to avoid damage from vegetation.
- Speed limits are 50 km/h (31 mph) in towns, 90 km/h (56 mph) on main roads and 110 km/h (68 mph) on the dual-carriageway SS131.
- There are no motorways on the island, so there are no electronic tolls once you leave the ferry.
- Look for brown signs that say "Area Sosta Camper"; these are official motorhome parking areas, often with basic service points.
- Historic city centres use ZTL zones (Limited Traffic Zones). Entering without a permit results in automatic fines; park outside and walk in.
- Strong Mistral wind can affect high-roof vans on west-coast roads, especially in spring.

Refuelling in the Area
- Large 24 hour self-service fuel stations (Eni, Q8, IP) are located on the SS131; they accept cards and cash.
- Most coastal campsites sell fresh water fill-ups and have a "Camper Service" area for grey and black water.
- Municipal dump points exist in Nuoro and Oristano; follow signs for "Scarico Camper".
Did You Know?
- Keep a spare ferry booking printout; staff often request the paper copy when boarding.
- Fire risk is high from June to September. Open flames and portable grills are banned outside designated barbecue areas.
- Fines for parking on dunes or protected beaches start at 100 € and are collected immediately by coast guard patrols.
- Tap water is generally safe but can taste mineral-rich; many locals use bottled water.
