Driving in the Area
- The speed limits are 120 km/h (75 mph) on motorways, 90 km/h (55 mph) on secondary roads and 50 km/h (31 mph) inside towns.
- Barcelona enforces the Zona de Baixes Emissions (ZBE) low-emission zone on weekdays 07:00–20:00. International rental campervans usually meet the requirements, but confirm with your rental company.
- Underground car parks and many streets have height clearance under 2.0 m (6 ft 7 in). Check your vehicle height before entering.
- Toll motorways (marked AP or C-32) accept cards and cash. Express "Via T" lanes are for vehicles with Spanish electronic tags only.
- The legal blood-alcohol limit is 0.05%. Police conduct random roadside tests.
- Cycle lanes and bus lanes are common. Fines apply if you drive or park in them.

- Repsol station at C-32 km 46 (Gavà) has LPG gas, fresh water and waste disposal.
- Area Autocaravanas Barcelona (Forum) sells water tokens and allows grey water and black water disposal.
- Major service areas on AP-7 north of Granollers provide diesel, LPG gas and wide parking bays for vehicles up to 10 m long.
Practical Tips
- Summer sun heats vehicle interiors above 35 °C. Use ventilation and carry extra drinking water.
- Wild camping on beaches or city streets is prohibited. Police patrol from 22:00 to 06:00.
- Wildfire risk is highest July to September in inland forests. Check "Protecció Civil" alerts before driving mountain roads.
- Many campsites close or reduce services mid-December to mid-January. Confirm opening hours in advance.
- Emergency number across Spain is 112. Roadside assistance in English is available.
- Keep valuables out of sight at viewpoints like Montjuïc. Petty theft from parked vehicles is the most common problem.
