Practical Tips

  • Expect rain throughout the year. Pack cables and mats for muddy camping pitches, especially in March and November.
  • Wild camping is not allowed. Overnight parking on public streets is only permitted where signs show a white campervan symbol.
  • The emergency number is 112 for police, fire and ambulance services.
  • You must carry a warning triangle and reflective vest for each adult. Fines apply if these items are missing.
  • Languages: road signs appear in Dutch (northern Flanders region), French (southern Wallonia region) or both languages. Major tourist sites also display information in English.
  • Rivers may freeze lightly in January, so refill water tanks during warmer daytime hours to prevent cracked pipes.
