Speed limits are 120 km/h (75 mph) on motorways, 90 km/h (56 mph) on main roads and 50 km/h (31 mph) in towns.
The A22 motorway (Via do Infante) uses electronic tolls. Most rental companies provide a toll device. If not provided, register your vehicle number plate at a post office or Easytoll machine before using toll roads.
You can find unleaded petrol and diesel along the N125 road and at most supermarkets. LPG (called GPL in Portuguese) is available at larger Galp and Repsol fuel stations.
Old town streets in Faro are narrow. Vehicles over 6.5 m (21 ft) should park outside the center and walk or use public buses.

July and August bring high UV levels and daytime temperatures above 30 °C (86 °F). Carry extra drinking water and use window shades.
