Many coastal and mountain roads are under 3 m wide with frequent sharp turns. Plan extra time and use low gears.
General speed limits are 50 km/h in towns, 80–90 km/h on rural roads and 110 km/h on expressways unless signs show different limits.
There are no toll roads on the island.
Gas, diesel and LPG are available but stations in the interior may close at night. Fill the tank before driving long distances in the mountains.

Wild camping is forbidden within 500 m of the coast and in nature reserves. Fines can be up to €135.
