





Road Genius compares campervan rentals from several Paris depots, helping travellers pick the right vehicle to explore France and beyond. Paris is a common starting point for routes to Normandy, the Loire Valley and the Alps. Note that the city operates a low-emission zone that requires a Crit'Air sticker on the windscreen.

Many coastal and mountain roads are under 3 m wide with frequent sharp turns. Plan extra time and use low gears.
General speed limits are 50 km/h in towns, 80–90 km/h on rural roads and 110 km/h on expressways unless signs show different limits.
There are no toll roads on the island.
Petrol, diesel and LPG are available but stations in the interior may close at night. Fill the tank before driving long distances in the mountains.

Wild camping is forbidden within 500 m of the coast and in nature reserves. Fines can be up to €135.
High fire danger can close forest roads when the alert level is "Rouge". Check Prefecture updates each morning.
