Road Genius compares campervan and motorhome rentals in Italy so you can pick the right vehicle, price and supplier. Venice Marco Polo (VCE) and Treviso (TSF) airports are the usual pick-up points for the lagoon area. Remember that historic Venice does not allow cars; you sleep and park on the mainland, then reach the islands by ferry, bus or train.

ZTL (Zona Traffico Limitato) cameras guard most central streets; fines arrive by mail, so park outside and take the metro.
The GRA (A90) ring road circles the city and connects to all motorways; expect traffic jams during rush hour.
Urban speed limit is 50 km/h (31 mph); motorway limit is 130 km/h (81 mph) unless rain lowers it to 110 km/h.
Motorway tolls use tickets or the electronic Telepass lane; foreign vehicles can pay cash or card at the blue "Carte" booths.
Fuel is mostly diesel, labelled Gasolio; self-service pumps cost less than the staffed "Servito" option.
LPG (called GPL) is available if your campervan uses it for cooking or driving.
Many parking garages have height limits of 2.1 m (6 ft 11 in); check your vehicle height before entering.
Winter tyres or chains are required on regional roads between 15 Nov and 15 Apr; police may check vehicles in the hills east of Rome.

Many Eni and Q8 stations along the GRA offer diesel, LPG and a hose for fresh-water refill; ask staff first.
Major Autogrill service areas on A1 and A24 have free toilet-cassette dump points and pay showers.
ZTL hours vary but usually run 06:30–18:00 Mon–Fri and 14:00–18:00 Sat; night ZTL starts 23:00 on weekends.

Rome's public fountains, called "nasoni," provide free drinking water; refill your tanks with a hose adaptor.
Petty theft is common near tourist areas; parking security staff recommend locking exterior lockers at night.
