• Saona Island: Saona is one of the most visited excursion sites, famed for its turquoise water and sandbars. It receives around one million tourists per year on day boat trips.
• Puerto Plata & North Coast: The northern coast offers a mix of resorts and adventure. Amber Cove and Taino Bay bring cruise tourists to Puerto Plata, where they visit the 16th-century Fort San Felipe, the Teleférico cable car up Mount Isabel de Torres, and the city’s refurbished malecón.
• Samaná Peninsula: Samaná is known for its lush landscapes and whale watching. Each winter, thousands of humpback whales migrate to Samaná Bay. Whale season draws approximately 50,000 visitors each year.
