Portland International Jetport (PWM) is Maine’s primary commercial airport, serving the Portland metropolitan area and connecting the state to destinations across the United States and select international locations via multiple partner airlines.

Portland International Jetport handles more than 2 million passengers annually.

• The airport served 2.59 million passengers in 2025, its highest on record and the first time exceeding 2.5 million in a single year.
• In 2019, PWM handled 2.18 million passengers before the pandemic.
• Passenger volume fell to 792,571 in 2020 (a 64% decline), then recovered to 1.70 million in 2021.
• In 2022, traffic rose to 1.99 million, followed by 2.22 million in 2023 and 2.44 million in 2024.

Both low-cost and major carriers operate at PWM, with Republic Airlines (as American Eagle), American Airlines and Southwest Airlines holding the largest market shares.

• Southwest Airlines held 16.5%, providing frequent service to major domestic destinations.

• Delta Air Lines accounted for 12.1%, mainly serving its hub network.
• United Airlines had 8.7% of the market, with service through Newark, Denver and Chicago.

PWM primarily offers domestic routes across the United States, with limited international service, mostly through seasonal charter flights.
