• However, in 2021, signs of recovery were evident. Visitor arrivals saw a significant rebound of 69.4%, rising to 32.23 million, though this was still 24.2% lower than 2019 levels. Tourist expenditure also increased substantially by 21.96% to $36.1 billion, nearing but not completely recovering to the 2019 spending level with a slight deficit of approximately 2.17%.
